I’ve only just got round to listening some of The Dark Knight Rises soundtrack properly, and it’s a very interesting addition to the trilogy. This is full-blown epic Hans Zimmer delivering a harsh and fearful score to represent Bane and his impending revolution. It is only in the final track Rise that I feel we have come full circle with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight stylistically.
I do keenly miss the absence of James Newton-Howard though in some of the tracks. Although Howard has a very diverse style, my favourite of his pieces are the quietly heart wrenching ones with the soft strings and ethereal piano (think ”Sanctuary” from SWATH, “Prologue” from The Lady In The Water and “The Gravel Road” from The Village). I like to think he brought his tragic, fantastical style that was just stunning in the first two films (“Harvey Two Face” jumps out at me), and tugged Zimmer a little bit from his normal style.

I’ve just realised. Iron Man 3 and Star Trek 2 are scheduled to come out the same week. THE SAME WEEK AS MY 21ST BIRTHDAY.
I AM GOING TO BE ON CLOUD NUMBER 9.

My question to Charlize Theron got asked on Kermode and Mayo’s Film Show this afternoon (BBC Radio 5 Live). Totally made my day after a shockingly bad EU exam
.
Just watched The Hunger Games at a preview screening in the UK- the first one in my city… QUICK THOUGHTS. SPOILERS.
Nearly every night I fall asleep to this piece. It makes me glowy.
